With Ridley’s Scott’s Nottingham pushed back until March of ’09, actor Russell Crowe is set to star as comedian Bill Hicks in an upcoming biography movie.  He spoke on the film to the Sydney Morning Herald saying,

"I have another project based on the life of comedian Bill Hicks, which is going from treatment to draft stage with Kiwi writer Mark Staufer."

Born in Texas Hicks stand up career started in the late 80’s and focused on topics concerning religion, politics and social life. Dealing with problems within his own life, Hicks battled alcohol and drug abuse until his death at age 32 from pancreatic cancer.
